The Laundry Room....or lack thereof

One thing I am beyond excited about is having a washer and dryer that doesn't take quarters!
We are scheduled to close May 27th which is right before Memorial Day weekend - I've been stalking appliances and they generally go on major sale around holidays.....so SCORE - fingers crossed this holiday is no different.

Unfortunately the washer and dryer are located in the unfinished part of the basement - so it wont look like this anytime soon, but I would die happy if it did.

Do you have a nice laundry area?  Or are you in the basement as well?

  1. Yeah... mine's in the basement too. Unfinished part. complete with peeling paint (someone tried to paint the cement), cobwebs, and the cat litter box. I keep promising myself that I'll get around to making it nicer...

  2. I made them install ours upstairs. I do need to work on making the area pretty. It's on my to do list.

  3. Our laundry is outside, behind our garage! UGH
Granted we live in SoCal, so usually weather isn't an issue, but it is always dirty--if you drop anything on the floor it gets covered in dirt leaves, pollen, grass clippings that blow onto the back patio. I have to dust the top of the washer and dryer every time I use it.
So basement isn't SO bad! ;-)

  4. Mine is tucked in the back of our kitchen... and definitely still needs some work to get it looking cuter. Thanks for those inspiration photos :)

  5. We're basement laundry peeps here too...that's probably the case for 80% of MA homes. I dream of laundry rooms like that, but can't even begin to fathom how we could ever get our basement to look anything other than basement-y

  6. Ours is also in the basement. We painted the cement block walls a bright white to make the place look a little less like a dungeon, but it's still a basement. Something like this would be enough to make me happy. http://www.countryhome.com/decorating/realliferedo/softerlaundry_1.html

  7. Now that I see these adorable laundry rooms, I am shamed by my badly flourescent lit, flat ivory painted, banged up hardwood floored, pathetic excuse for a laundry room! HMM! Now this takes me back to your other post about painted hardwood floors - perhaps this is my moment to DO IT! YAY!
