I’ve totally mastered week 1 of the C25K. I’m pretty sure I’ve done it like 8 times now. I somehow rarely get around to week 2, and almost never venture into the practically unchartered territory of week 3. But week 1, I’ve got that down. Maybe I’ll start up again soon, since I’m sitting here thinking about how I want to unbutton my pants* to regain circulation to the lower half of my body.
The problem that I have is that my power of rationalization greatly exceeds my desire to be skinny. In the name of full disclosure I should mention that I am writing this while eating a red velvet cupcake….for breakfast…at 8 in the morning. I figure the frosting is cream cheese anyways (it’s basically like a bagel, except probably with less carbs) and there are nuts on top – which are full of protein. I mean, my body should be thanking me for the additional vitamins it got from eatting the cupcake and not just a bagel.
I’m way too good at tricking myself.
*I’m at the office, so I won’t.

Run-dergarments...
So my first day went great running-wise, but there were some improvements that needed to be made. All the equipment at my gym has personal tv screens mounted to them (which is great) and they are programmed to turn on when headphones are inserted. BUT if you are using your headphones in your ipod because you need to hear the cues in the music about when to run/walk (like I was) the screen basically acts as a mirror. This means I watched myself bounce and jiggle for a good 25 minutes- I was pretty disgusted.
So, for day 2 I strapped on two sports bras and brought an extra pair of headphones to activate the tv. I like running to music better than watching tv while I run, but Teen Mom was on (love) and so I had to watch. One ear had music, the other had tv and I rather liked it, although the guy running next to me shot me a few weird looks.
Anyways, the second run was good, but apparently I was not wearing proper running undergarments... aka 'run-dergarments' since I have some rather unpleasant chafing in some very ladylike areas that I wish to remain anonymous on these here internets (if you know what I mean).
So ladies, I know a few of you are runners- do you have recommendations on the best type of run-dergarments? And if any of you are more endowed in the chestal area- any recs for great sports bras?

I will be a runner, I will...
Remember when I said I was going to get back on the workout bandwagon? Well, I'm not on said bandwagon yet....
But hey - it's a new year and I WILL run a 5K. Also, I'm paying $70+/month for a gym membership I haven't used forever but am too embarrased to cancel since I would basically be declaring myself a fat kid for life.
Step 1: Put workout music on IPod. This was more challenging than I anticipated since I forgot we got a new computer and have no idea how to get music off old computer and onto new computer. I decided to give-up and reformat my ipod and start fresh.
I'm planning on following the C25K plan and downloaded a few 'workout mixes' (I'm terrible at making mixes) to help me get motivated.
If this sounds like you, you HAVE to visit Go Nicole Yourself, she has put together some mixes specifically for this program and they have gotten some rave reviews. awesome.
I'm excited to start.
Wow, did I just say I was excited to run? What is happening to me?
I'm NOT excited about how crowded the gym is going to be.....stupid NY resolutions.

Wanted: Accountability Buddies
I haven’t exactly fallen off the exercise bandwagon because it’s hard to fall off if you never really got on. I
It has been a delicious couple of months since our wedding.
Honeymoon = all inclusive resort with amazing food and drinks
BFF’s Wedding = again delicious food and socializing
the Boy’s birthday = cake/ice cream
my birthday = cake/ice cream again (and we aren’t talking slices here people, we are talking whole cakes)
life = ice cream at night because I can
Halloween = candy at every corner.
This weekend’s quote from the boy: “Hun, you are eating those Oreo’s at an alarming rate”.
To sum it up I like food waay too much, and I’m starting to feel myself expanding (and not expanding with joy or love, mostly with Halloween candy and carbs) and that is no bueno.
I generally operate on an entirely irrational system of rewards and punishments. Basically it goes like this – if you go for a run you may reward yourself with a treat; if you neglect said run you can still eat that treat because you will most likely go tomorrow. I have complied so many excuses to avoid physical exertion of any kind (its cold/its dark/my shoes are in the other room/I need a new playlist/etc.) and since I have all these goals/conversations/punishments in my head no one else knows about them and I cannot be held accountable.
So I have a plan to have a plan.
My plan is to do the C25K …. again. (aka the Couch to 5k – but using only the letters I think makes it sound more difficult, like P90X.) This time I won’t get irrationally upset when they make you take that 2 mile leap that seriously comes out of nowhere.
Anyone want to join? I need accountability buddies. Don’t get scared, it’s still only a plan to have a plan – we don’t actually have to do anything YET ….baby steps, baby steps.
